Dianne Glover

About Me

Dianne Glover was born in 1947 on the north side of Sydney harbour making her one of many Australian baby boomers of the time, the first of seven children born to Bill and June Hutton.

In 1955 she was one of the many children who could fondly remember having the privilege of lining Willoughby road outside her school in Naremburn to wave their union jack flags as they cheered on Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Phillip passing by on their way to Crow’s Nest.

When Dianne was twelve the family moved to Chatswood where she eventually finished school. It was around that time her creative juices began flowing when her teachers gave her the freedom to entertain her piers by producing mini lunch time shows for school charities charging 6pence entry fee. At that age she had developed an eye for talent and recognised among her friends how best placed they would be to bring her characters to life and entertain the school.

Her 15 th year arrived and the family moved again, this time to Siberia or so she called it. Liverpool seemed so far away however the timing slotted into her life like a glove as her school days were done. Time to earn a living. First came a couple of different accidental factory jobs before she discovered Sydney theaters advertising for usherett’s. Here she entered the glamoures world of fashion, illusion and people skills, first at the Capital theatre before moving on to the Prince Edward.

The theatre is where she found her true passion, styling hair.

With determination it didn’t take long to secure an apprenticeship at a Liverpool salon where she spent the next 4 years lovingly beautifying the ladies of the 1960s. Two years of that 4 consisted of attending Sydney technical college to secure hairdressing qualifications.

After marrying at 20 and giving birth to her daughter at 21 then 3 years later her first boy was born followed by another boy 16 months later. By the time she was 29 multitasking had become regimental running a household and her own salon. When her children reached primary school age she sold her salon and moved on to teaching her craft for TAFE NSW while attending UTS in Sydney to secure teaching qualifications.

Teaching was her life until retiring at retiring age when golf took over, another world altogether, there she met and made lots of lifetime friends as she did at TAFE and the hairdressing industry where many, many, stories were created.

After moving to the south coast in 2011 she continued playing golf as well as joining the line dancing ladies, it was time to put pen to paper and share all the wonderful stories and characters trapped inside her head to share with like minded people.
