Bad Hair Days

HAIR IS EVERYTHING!

Bad hair. Good friends.
One unstoppable woman.

Scarlet grows up surrounded by her mother’s, grandmother’s, and aunties’ catastrophic hair experiments—so of course she dreams of becoming a top hairdresser. But getting there is anything but smooth. After years of blocked attempts, odd jobs, and accidental detours, she finally lands in the fashion world, where her talent shines, her boss Bentley champions her, and a whirlwind of adventures sweeps her off to Paris, Italy, and London with a fabulous circle of new friends.

Between fashion shows, Riviera escapes, and a love life complicated by a charming gambler named George, Scarlet’s journey is full of chaos, laughter, and the kind of friendships that turn disasters into stories worth telling. From managing salons to producing dazzling hair shows, she discovers that chasing your dream—no matter how messy—can lead to a life far bigger, brighter, and funnier than you ever imagined.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dianne Glover was born in 1947 on the north side of Sydney harbour making her one of many Australian baby boomers of the time, the first of seven children born to Bill and June Hutton.

In 1955 she was one of the many children who could fondly remember having the privilege of lining Willoughby road outside her school in Naremburn to wave their union jack flags as they cheered on Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Phillip passing by on their way to Crow’s Nest.

When Dianne was twelve the family moved to Chatswood where she eventually finished school. It was around that time her creative juices began flowing when her teachers gave her the freedom to entertain her piers by producing mini lunch time shows for school charities charging 6pence entry fee. At that age she had developed an eye for talent and recognised among her friends how best placed they would be to bring her characters to life and entertain the school.
